Quite a versatile curling iron
This 4 in 1 tool has plates to straighten as well as plates for two different crimps. There are two knobs on the end to allow you to dial in the appropriate plate. There is a lock switch on the end where the cord goes in that allows you to open it up wider when needed. There is an on off switch on the handle as well as a button to select three different temperatures. The available temperatures are 320, 380 and 430°F. In my testing, I found that when you first turn it on and select the lowest temperature, the light will flash until it is heated to that temperature and then will stay on solid. You move it up to the next higher temperature and it flashes again until it reaches that temperature and then stays solid. The same thing happens when you move it to the highest temperature. But here is something that surprised me- you move it from the highest temperature to the second highest temperature and it again flashes until the temperature DROPS to the new desired temperature. I found this to be very helpful because otherwise how would you know that it was not still too hot? One other thing to note about this temperature select button is that it is right on the barrel where your hand is going to be as you are using it. It is pretty sesitive so you need to be very careful not too change the temperature inadvertently as you are working with it. That could produce some very unwanted results. As far as the three different temperatures go, I actually used an infrared thermometer to find out how accurate the temperatures were and found them to be very accurate. But only if I measured directly on the surface of the plates after having them closed for about 30 seconds. The surface of the plates did not necessarily stay up to temp when they were open but I would have not expected that they would. Also the heat that I measured off of the outside of the barrel that you would use for curling was not nearly as high as directly on the plates, also as I would have expected. Some other nice features of this are that the cord can rotate around 360° so it it’s not so likely to get tangled up. It also has an auto off feature for safety purposes. It comes with a couple of hair clips and a glove to protect your hand from the heat if you choose to use it. There is also an instruction manual included. It does heat up pretty quickly and maintains the correct heat. It works pretty well and in my opinion it is a good product that you will probably like.My philosophy is that, for a rating system to be effective, the highest rating and the lowest rating should be reserved for a relatively small percentage of the best and the worst products. I DON’T take into consideration prices or issues with shipping. I stick to a fair and honest evaluation of the product itself. Perfect 4 in 1 hair tool
The FMZ 4 in 1 Styling Iron is a versatile and effective tool. Despite the smaller plates requiring smaller sections of hair, this tool performs wonderfully. It straightens my medium-length, fine colored hair perfectly with zero static. While the button placement requires a bit of a learning curve to avoid accidental temperature shifts, the fast heat and safety shut off make it a reliable choice for home or travel. For me the 30 minute automatic shut off is a fantastic peace of mind feature. If it does kick in, just remember you need to reset the device by unplugging and plugging back in. The design quirk with the temperature control is that the temperature button is located exactly where your finger naturally rest. It takes some practice to remember to hold your finger a tad higher so you don’t accidentally change the temperature while styling. The heat setting is 320, 380, and 430. I use the 430 on my hair and it works great. Switching between the straightener, and crimper is a breeze. Im still working on the curling, as you use the outside of the iron like a curling iron. Also, the iron does not lay upright it lays on its side. Not an issue as the plates never touch the bathroom counter. Overall, I absolutely love this flat iron and have replaced my larger more expensive one with this one.
